My uncle Patrick came from difficult childhood circumstances and made good spectacularly in so many ways. He was very clever and witty, and a great Dad, but most of all I remember his huge generosity to our family.
When my parents were struggling with a growing family living in the middle of Hatfield, an industrial town in the midlands Patrick helped them to move to the idyllic village of Nayland where we grew up. He paid for a deposit on a house and never accepted repayment. He funded the education of my sister Leonie, and later on funded our beloved Grandmother 'Granny' to live in a residential home when she needed it without having to sell her home before her death. I remember Patrick with admiration and gratitude.
